Speaker: Peter Rumsey, PE, FASHRAE, LEED AP, CEM (Peter is widely recognized as a global leader in energy efficiency and sustainable building system design. Peter founded Rumsey Engineers in 1998, acquired by Integral Group in 2009. He served as Integral’s West Coast Director and Chief Technology Officer.)

Topic: A study by LBNL found that over a typical year half of HVAC energy is consumed by pumps and fans. For all of this energy use, we still tend to focus on chiller and boiler efficiency when we are designing HVAC systems. Peter will discuss his experience with designing dramatically lower friction pump and fan systems. He will also share some of the work of his mentor, the highly regarded Singaporean engineer, Lee Eng Lock. His approach of careful attention to details often yields 50% energy savings in these critical but often ignored systems. The presentation will be focused on real world examples and strategies that can be used in all project types.
